In September 2018 I had the chance to talk in depth about my dissertational research, while presenting a paper-idea that I dissected out of the introductory chapters of my thesis at the Vienna Anthropology Days. My focus has been on the 19th century World’s Fairs as both showreels of early ethnological exhibits but also Ethnographies in their own respect, illustrating a World of Ethnic and Cultural differences, where there often were none, as e.g. at the World’s Colombian Exposition in 1893. The newest addition to this legacy of World’s Fairs has been the World EXPO Museum build in Shanghai, whose 2018 inaugural exhibitions I also talked about.
